NCUK Guaranteed Access to University LogoIf you pass your NCUK IFY, NCUK willguaranteeyou a place on a suitable programme at one of their partner universities. No one else can offer you this guarantee.

The entry criteria varies for each partner university, so where you are placed will depend on how well you do in your exams. The better you perform, the greater chance you have of getting a place at your first choice! You can read more detail about NCUK’s Guarantee, and how it relates to each of their programmes below:

The minimum grades required in order to be eligible for the NCUK guarantee are based on results in subject modules plus EAP (English for Academic Purposes) or Key Skills.

  • Subject Module Grades: Students must normally achieve a minimum of 96 NCUK points in subject modules to progress to a university degree course in the UK.
  • EAP/EAPPU: All students must achieve a minimum of overall grade C with no less than D in each EAP skills component (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking).

What options are open to you after your NCUK programme?

NCUK’s programmes are designed to give you maximum amount of choice when you are ready to move onto your degree programme. There are over 4,000 degree courses you can progress to from the IFY in a wide range of subjects such as:

  • Accounting
  • Business
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Architecture
  • Biosciences
  • Design
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Politics

Entry to Law, Medicine and Architecture:

The NCUK IFY is recognised as a pathway for these areas, but because of the elite nature of these UG Degrees, the requirements are exceptionally high and NCUK cannot give its usual guarantee. For Medicine, you usually need a conditional offer from a university before you start the programme. For Architecture, you will need to submit a high-quality portfolio of work as well as achieve very good IFY grades. If the portfolio is not of a high enough standard, it will be very difficult to place you onto such a programme.
