Student Life
Our students enjoy a range of extra-curricular activities enabling them to develop their intellectual, sporting and cultural interests. We have an accomplished debating team, meeting weekly to discuss a wide range of topics and participating in regional debating competitions including the Oxford Schools’. Students also take part in an annual Model United Nations conference furthering their ability to speak in public, carry out analytical and critical thinking and build up a better understanding of current affairs.
We have an established football team which trains weekly and plays matches against other colleges. The highlight of our sporting calendar is the CIFE Football Tournament which is held at St George’s Park, the Football Asscoiation’s national home. Perhaps the most intriguing encounter of the sporting calendar is our annual fixtures against èAV Cambridge which are played both home and away with the winner holding the èAV Football Challenge Trophy. In addition to football, students play a host of other sports including badminton, basketball and cricket. An annual basketball match takes place between staff and students. A running club meets weekly with staff and students participating.
We are keen to encourage our students to put something back into the community and we run a number of projects with organisations such as the “NCS” allowing our students to make a difference to the quality of other peoples’ lives. Our students participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award and contribute to the College magazine emphasising the strong sense of community which exists at èAV Birmingham.
An annual art exhibition is held at the College in which the work of students is celebrated.
Away from organised activities, students benefit from the location of èAV with easy access to Birmingham’s excellent museums, galleries and cultural events.
